WINE TRAM, FRANSCHHOEK

For those still in Franschhoek after the wedding, if you’re up for it, join us for a day on the Wine Tram for a hop on, hop off tour of some of Franschhoek Valley’s wine estates.

Based on your RSVP we’ve bought tickets for the wine tram for everyone and will provide details of which group you’re in closer to the date. We are riding the Pink and Red lines, kicking off between 11:30am – 12:30pm. You’ll be able to hop on / hop off the various Franschhoek Valley wine estates as you choose.

A final destination spot will be communicated by us on the wedding WhatsApp group so we can all reconvene for golden hour (if you’re still standing…). To contribute to your ticket cost (R300 / £15 PP), visit the registry section of the wedding website or click here.

Travel & Accommodation

From abroad

As Easter is a popular time to visit, we recommend booking flights as early as possible, often there are more affordable flights direct or in-direct to Johannesburg which will require an internal flight into Cape Town. Flights between Johannesburg to Cape Town are frequent and low-cost.

For the wedding

Boschendal Wine Farm is located in the heart of the Cape Winelands, less than an hour from Cape Town City Centre and Cape Town International Airport.

For the wedding we recommend booking accommodation in and around Franschhoek or Stellenbosch, both located a 15-20 min drive from Boschendal Wine Farm. You’ll find lots of options on Booking.com and Airbnb. There is also limited accommodation onsite at Boschendal either via their website, or by contacting accommodation@boschendal.co.za.

Some of our favourite accommodation venues close by are:

molenvliet.co.za johannesdal1207.co.za simonzicht.co.za glasshouseinthewinelands.southafrica-za.com banhoeklodge.co.za camissafarm.com dezeven.co.za campcanoe.co.za orange-ville.com alluvia.co.za wechmarshof.co.za cloudsestate.com

We suggest booking your accommodation well in advance to ensure you get the best options for the best prices as Franschhoek and Stellenbosch are popular to visit at this time of year.

Local shuttle transport contacts

Boschendal will provide shuttles to any guests staying on the estate. For those staying in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek or elsewhere nearby, please pre-book to and from your accommodation in advance, and for pick-ups book yours for latest 2am. Uber does not operate late at night in these areas.

Cape Town

From hotels to airbnbs, the choices are endless. Areas we’d recommend staying in are: Fresnaye, Sea Point, Greenpoint, Bantry Bay, Camps Bay and Clifton. Airbnb and Booking.com will cover all options for your stay.

For getting around Cape Town, we recommend hiring a car. Uber’s are affordable and generally safe and a good second option.

We are delighted and grateful to have you join us in celebrating our wedding day and your presence is the greatest gift we could ask for.

For those who do wish to give us a gift we’ve set up a honeymoon fund which you can access here. As many of you know we’ll soon be packing up and relocating to Singapore so a contribution to our honeymoon would be gratefully appreciated over physical items during this next chapter of our lives.

    FAQ

What should I wear to the wedding?

Summer suits and dresses. We are hoping for sun, but the weather can be unpredictable so plan for it to be hot, but with something warm for the evening. There’s a lot of grass on the farm so stiletto heels might not be the best choice.

Is the wedding indoors and outdoors?

Weather permitting, most of our wedding will be outside.

    Are children welcome?

Children will not be allowed at the wedding. For those travelling from overseas with children, please liaise with Phoebe and Stu so we can help organise baby-sitting services for the wedding day.

For all families with kids we can highly recommend two, verified and experienced baby-sitting services that can be found below:

    winelandnannies.com holidaynannies.co.za

    Should we hire a car?

Hiring a car is a great option, due to the lack of reliable public transport on offer. Most car rental companies have pick-up and drop-off locations at Cape Town International airport. To make sure you stay safe during your time in South Africa, don’t leave any items on display in your parked car and always park somewhere with a parking attendant. Uber is also widely used in Cape Town CBD and can be a great choice if you are planning on having a few drinks.

How do I get to and from the wedding?

If you are staying at Boschendal Wine Farm shuttles will be provided to and from the wedding. If you are staying nearby, please arrange a shuttle/taxi to drop you off and pick you up in advance. Details of taxis/shuttles can be found in the travel and accommodation section.
